Congratulations George Groves , The fight itself wasn't a classic out and out war like Benn Vs Eubank, but it captured the public imagination and was the most intriguing domestic in years.

More to the point - this fight has given british boxing the kick start its been waiting years for. So ...

George fought a perfect fight , though I would have liked to have seen him go toe to toe a bit more. Im sure I speak for all fight fans when I say " Thank you to two awesome fighters for putting it on the line for the fans" Total respect to both of you !

Fact : James Degale is one of the nicest guys Ive ever met during my 35 years involved in boxing .

Never has he turned away a good cause, ie helping underprivileged kids, and raising funds for childrens hospice' etc.

He never speaks of the good he does because He's too much of a Gent.

I have to admit that at this moment in time Ward ( 23-0) and Froch (27-0) have 'top level' experience on their side and Degale had only fought 21 pro rnds up until the Smith fight .

Having said that, Smith didn't bring out the best in Degale , as yet we haven't seen Degale under any pressure ....

Apart from Carl Froch , Paul Smith is the top Super Middleweight in the country at the moment with a 29-1 record.

why he hasn't vacated his British title and had a crack at a world title is his business.

I fear he is going to regret his decision.
