Yep, its the M1A1 alright. (non adjustable rear sight) Looks to have the type 3 barrel band with a bayonet lug.
In actuality the M1 Carbine has an effective range of approx 200 to 250 yards. I hope they don't make it out to be a 'GOD' gun.

Set up a key for the 'level stabilizer'. The aircraft needs to be level and stable for a few seconds (about 10 sec) for the gyro's to engage.
When the gyro's are ready the sight will re-appear.
