This song is an original and was written by Tommy Makem not Phil Coulter .
Makem was the greatest balladeer Ireland ever produced and in many ways can only be equalled by The Corries.
Cork -- Rosslare , a very short trip by international standards and indeed by any standard. The days of operating unviable ferries from Cork are over.
