I am not sure that it could withstand direct contact with Lava, but, with Legion of the Damned then they could, because they are not physical. They are ghost-ish more then an actual Marine in Armor.

The problem is the Squigoth is a melee machine where as the Baneblade is a med-long range support tank. The Main Cannon cannot be brought to bear Vs the Squig because of the close proximity and neither can the H. Bolters on the sides.
