If you don't like the kit then don't buy one and don't watch the video. Simple as that. I also have Yamaha maple customs and I love the kit. If you don't, its probably because you have crappy heads and/or don't know how to tune.

He's just doing doubles alternating bass drum and right hand. It looks like he's using both feet. I just use one foot though (I tried using a double bass pedal but didn't have the patience to work on my left foot). Its a fun lick to add to your vocabulary. Good luck with it!
