well the 7d is not a full frame camera its a 1.6 crop factor sensor so a 35mm on a 7d will actually give you a frame close to 50mm 'its actually 56mm' whereas a 50mm lens on a 7d is 80mm. the 7d is quailty btw you have made a wise decission.
