It's designed to be unforgiving so that, unless you are in sufficient control to steer around, you will be thrown out of the track. A sort of 'safety valve' before you get to the faster stages.

Lock him up? Ray Hanna passed away in 2005, age 77. He was one of the finest display pilots in the history of aviation.
Aeroplanes are built to flown not to sit in museums. Ray Hanna's displays encouraged others to restore historic aircraft...
