This recording is available on CD and is pure gold. Was there that nite so it brought back memories and it STILL makes my hair stand on end! Also a young Justino Diaz, Ernst Blanc and Betty Allen. A 100 * performance from EVERY singer!

Am 70 now and knew personally a talented lady that studied voice, born in 1884 and told of the night she saw Caruso make his debut in Phila 1903! Never forget her toss her head back and say "Unbelievable GLORIOUS voice!

Sembrich sang with Caruso in Rigoletto in his Phila debut Nov 1903. I knew a WONDERFUL lover of GREAT singers that was present that nite and she heard most of the GOLDEN AGE singers in person. She was 19 at the time and a vocal student. Some interesting conversations believe me!

Flew to Vienna from Phila Pa. (He is a graduate of Curtis Institute here) Sept past just for this concert he gave in the Vein Koncerthause. Worth EVERY PENNY. He sang this as an encore. He is giving a joint recital with Villazon in Paris on July 8,2008 and am going since I was never in Paris!

You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. He sounds even better in person. That is if you know anything at all about "Bel Canto". For those of you who don't know it means "BEAUTIFUL SINGING" When these operas were written they didn't go around town looking for actors!
