I have always loved trailers. The earliest memories of my youth have to do with
the coming attractions reel that would accompany any film shown at the Town & Country Mall where I lived in the 'burbs. I was born in '77 so I had a chance to get in on the ground floor of some primo 80's commercial celluloid. Even though I saw way more than the average kid's amount of movies as a youth, it's the trailers that proceeded the films that always made an indelible impact on my psyche. It's hard to explain to the uninitiated how deep MY love of trailers really goes, why I search for them, archive them and watch them endlessly. To put it in contrast, In 2009, trailers for upcoming films suck. They don't stir the imagination, create a sense of impending doom or do any of the things that an amazing trailer can do to an impressionable mind. 95% of them should constitute as basic torture under the Genva Convention and should be banished to another dimension.

In my search for strange, rare and obscure trailers from the dust-bin of 60's, 70's and 80's cinema, I came closer than I ever did watching feature length films, to some of the most entertaining and thought-provoking experiences the cinema has to offer. A memorable trailer is an artform in itself - it crystallizes the entire film into a tiny nugget of sheer entertainment, a taste of what's to come, transforming the shell of the mundane with a future event that holds the promise of the BEYOND. An unforgettable trailer is the great appetizer of popular culture. It serves the collective unconscious it's fears, desires and dreams and when executed with precision, releases a chemical in the brain that induces apophenia and other pleasurable emotions in the soul/bone/mind.

The DVD era has been a Renaissance for the archiving of this unique artform.
It has been my obsession to search every DVD or VHS copy for anything trailer-oriented so that I could make a copy of it for my records. Naturally, many of the best trailers cannot be shown here - because of specific content banned from this site. The original
Unseen Trailers that was up here about a year ago was suspended when someone
from the Vincent Gallo camp cited me for copyright infringement for posting the trailer
to 'Palookaville.' (!) At that point, there were over 400 trailers up. I guess you could say I got beef. There is no way to guarantee that this site will not be suspended as well(Ridiculous when you consider some of the things that people upload here!)
So I'm just gonna have to keep it movin' and groovin'.
