Uffie, 22 ans, incarne bien plus que ce que notre société, friande de phénomènes éphémères, souhaiterait lui réserver. Révélée sur Internet, l'Américaine née en Floride n'est pas, comme beaucoup aujourd'hui, un symptôme de l'époque, elle en est un visage. Et la sortie de « Sex Dreams & Denim Jeans » vient brillamment le prouver. Avec cet album, Uffie signe le manifeste d'une jeunesse dont elle saisit mieux que personne les espoirs et les doutes.
Tout a commencé il y a six ans, lorsque Uffie s'installe à Paris, elle veut goûter à l'Europe et son histoire.
C'est là, lors de virées nocturnes, qu'elle rencontre Dj Feadz, qui décèle en elle la voix des morceaux qu'il produit. Ni rappeuse, ni chanteuse, l'adolescente curieuse et inexpérimentée, élevée aussi bien au rap de Missy Elliott qu'au rock de Siouxie and the Banshees, se laisse prendre au jeu. Très vite les deux amis séduisent un public -- désormais acquis à la révolution Internet - qui s'enthousiasme à l'écoute des productions électro/ hip hop imparables qu'ils postent sur leur Myspace. La fraîcheur du flow enfantin et des paroles sans concession de la jeune ado effarouchée se faisant l'écho d'une jeunesse qui se reconnaît dans ses choix esthétiques et son style inégalable. Celui d'une lolita sexy, décomplexée, aventureuse, vivant à 100 à l'heure, écumant les night clubs et défiant les règles d'une société trop politiquement correcte. Uffie est le symbole parfait des années 2010.
Pedro Winter chasseur de talents, toujours inspiré, ne s'y trompe pas. Il sent que ce petit brin de fille au visage d'ange et à l'attitude désinvolte va se révéler une figure majeure d'un courant musical qui est en train de conquérir la planète et dont il est l'un des instigateurs. Il la signe sur son prestigieux label, Ed Banger. Uffie intègre alors le collectif talentueux et entame avec lui plusieurs tours du monde qui la mènent du Japon à l'Amérique du Sud en passant par l'Australie, la Chine et bien sûr les USA de long en large. C'est sur scène, prenant un plaisir non dissimulé à partager ses nouveaux titres avec un public à chaque fois conquis, qu'elle fait ses armes. Ses singles « Pop the Glock », « Hot Chick », « Ready to Uff » et « First Love » devenant instantanément des hymnes, ses apparitions sur les compilations « Ed Rec » ou « † » l'album de Justice révélant son talent de conteuse. Un succès gagné sur Internet (17 millions de plays Myspace avant même l'album), sur scène, en dehors des circuits habituels, clairement obsolètes pour cet emblème de l'avant-garde. Uffie devient une petite princesse de la dance music, enchaîne les concerts, pose en couverture des magazines... Une reconnaissance internationale incroyable pour une artiste qui n'a jamais sorti d'album.

Labels such as these are easy to gather but 22-year-old Uffie represents much more than that which our society, always hungry for a flash-in-the-pan sensation, is ready to grant her. This Florida-born artist made her debut on the internet, but she is far more than just another product of our times; she is the face of our times. It all began six years ago when Uffie moved to Paris to get a taste of Europe and its history. It was in Paris that -- on her nocturnal adventures - she met DJ Feadz who immediately saw that hers was the voice he needed for the tracks he was producing. She was neither a rapper nor a singer but, having grown-up listening to everything from Missy Elliott to Siouxsie and the Banshees, she was intrigued and decided to give it a go. The two friends quickly acquired an audience with the electro/hip-hop productions they posted on their MySpace. With her fresh naïve flow and explicit lyrics, the deer caught in the headlights fast became the voice of a generation that saw itself in her unparalleled style and unique aesthetic. This is a sexy Lolita icon; unfazed, adventurous, living in the fast lane from club to club, she defies all the rules of a politically correct society. Uffie is the personification of our new decade.

Pedro Winter, inspired talent scout, didn't miss the ticket. He felt that this slip of a girl with the angel face and the off-hand attitude was on the brink of becoming a major player in a new wave of music, partly instigated by him, which was about to take over the planet.
