Since the 80s film history was so small, it must be merged in with the 90s in order to form a decent film era.
1980s-The Dark Age(No Distribution Company)
SILENT(Thanks to Keo Sarath and Chom Chovin who helped fulfill Cambodia's 80s memories. The decade of politics and getting Cambodia back on feet)
The 80s was a time where 20 year old did not get to star or represent themselves, instead they were looking towards selling or farming, if not, they had to wait till Cambodia's entertainment industry arose once again, which was in the early 90s, by then they were already in their late 20s or 30s which meant they were quite older than usual stars. These late stars include Kai Prosith or Tep Rundaro who has dreamed of stardom since their childhood,the time of Kong Som Eun and Vichara Dany, but their time was replaced with politics and revolution.However, after the Khmer Rouge,this was just the beginning of the Cambodian film industry.
2nd Movies Era:1986-1994
There were tons of films produced ranging from 1989-1994 not including musical skits and karaoke. In fact, karaoke wasn't always the major part of entertainment in Cambodia,karaoke wasn't common in Cambodia until 1996. Following the karaoke turn was a move towards high quality cameras. Unfortunately, these high quality cameras weren't around during the Cambodian movie era of the late 80s through 1994 but instead was used on short karaokes for the karaoke devotion era of 1996-2002.
