Arsenal'in, Avrupa Şampiyonası'nda iyi bir grafik çizen yıldız oyuncumuz Arda Turan ile ilgilendiği ileri sürüldü. Bazı İngiliz internet sitelerinde yer alan haberlerde, gelecek sezon ekibini güçlendirmek isteyen Arsenal Teknik Direktörü Arsene Wenger'in, Avrupa Şampiyonası'nda boy gösteren oyuncuları incelediği, Galatasarayımızın formasını giyen milli oyuncu Arda Turan ile İspanyol David Silva'nın muhtemel transferler arasında bulundukları belirtildi.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been in Switzerland and no doubt keeping a close eye on Euro 2008, with Turkey's Arda Turan and David Silva of Spain allegedly catching his eye...
Wenger has alluded to scouting for talents at this summer's championship in previous interviews and as such, it is almost expected that he will engage in some transfer activity as we near the tournament's end.
Two targets who have been singled out are Arda Turan, who scored the first of three goals in a tremendous Turkish comeback yesterday evening to put them in the quarterfinals at the expense of the Czech Republic, and Spain's versatile midfielder David Silva.
Arda, the lesser known but so far more impressive of the two, also scored the winner against co-hosts Switzerland last Wednesday, and Galatasaray are unlikely to let go of their most promising youngster without a fight, with rumours of a £10 million asking price for the man once linked with Newcastle United.
Silva, meanwhile, has been recognised on the international stage for almost two years, with some classy performances in the Champions League for Valencia. However, following their flop this season, many of their star players have been rumoured to be unsettled and seeking an exit.
However, the hiring of promising young coach Unai Emery may have some sway in convincing the players to stay, particularly since their poor league finish was not entirely punished due to their triumph in the Copa del Rey, which gave them UEFA Cup qualification.
It is thought that the Spanish international will command a fee of as much as £15 million and quite possibly more, of course contingent on his performances for Spain in the remainder of the tournament.
