Transnistria's official and constitutional name is Pridnestrovie. The country declared independence in 1990, but its neighbors never accepted that. They want the country to go away, but the people of Transnistria don't want to be part of Moldova. So they stay independent even though the outside world is against it.

I have one friend born in TIraspol, and she has rebuked many of the claims about your country. I don't think it is at all as bad as the negative propaganda suggests. I would love to visit one day.
