ULMA Family. The beatification cause, initiated in 2003 for an entire Polish family, is being moved forward by the relevant authorities in Rome. Already honoured by the title of "Righteous Among the Nations" by Israel, the Ulma family were executed by the German-Nazis on March 24, 1944, in the Markowa.
Before the German-Nazis invaded Poland, Hitler announced, "The destruction of Poland is our primary task." He also commanded, "Kill without pity or mercy all men, women, and children of Polish descent or language. Only in this way can we obtain the living space we need." Hitler's head of secret police, Heinrich Himmler, promised that "all Poles will disappear from the world."

Sheltering or helping Jews in German-occupied Poland posed a serious danger to anyone doing it. Poland was the only country where the German-Nazis ordered a death penalty not only for the persons directly aiding them but even for the neighbors living nearby.
