Tim May is a world-class guitarist, resophonic guitarist, and mandolinist who started out playing banjo in the family band growing up in Mississippi. Hearing Tony Rice and Dan Crary made a flat-picking guitarist convert out of him in a big way, and Tim has spent years exploring and pushing his craft.
Tim toured Japan with John Cowan Band and has performed with Patty Loveless, Charlie Daniels, and Eddie Rabbit. He performed regularly on the Grand Ole Opry in the Mike Snider Band, and earned a 2006 Grammy nomination for a tune he recorded with Charlie Daniels. Tim was one of the central performers and the primary chartist for "Moody Bluegrass," a project that married some of the best bluegrass instrumentalists and singers with classic Moody Blues music. Prior to that, Tim spent nearly 15 years in the critically acclaimed group, Crucial Smith, which had a CD produced by Pat Flynn.
In addition to being able to play nearly all plectrum instruments, Tim is an accomplished songwriter and singer, as evidenced by his recent solo CD, "Find My Way Back." He was a featured artist and writer for Flatpicking Guitar Magazine and has been repeatedly called to judge the annual National Flatpicking Guitar Championship in Winfield, Kansas. He's a popular teacher at workshops across the country, and periodically tours as a clinician for Breedlove Guitars.
Today, Tim performs with his wife, fiddler Gretchen Priest, in their band PLAIDGRASS, known for its lively mix of Irish, Scottish, Old Time and Bluegrass tunes, with 8-string banjoist Tom Saffell, and bassist Dan Miller. A new CD will be released in January. Learn more at:

Tim also performs with Brian Christianson and Jon Weisberger in David and Jan Harvey's band Radiola, focusing on mandolin orchestra tunes and swing tunes, with a dash of bluegrass thrown in.
David joins Tim in the nine part Vintage Gibson series. Learn more about David at www.davidharveymusic.com.
