Rock icon and cult favorite Paul Collins founded legendary rock band The Nerves with Peter Case and Jack Lee in 1974. The Nerves funded their own recordings, toured with The Ramones and released a song called Hanging On The Telephone, a hit song which has been covered by Cat Power, Def Leppard and Blondie, on the Parallel Lines album. After The Nerves disbanded in 1977, Paul Collins formed The Beat, recruiting members of various rock bands.
