You shouldn't really fill your mind with those kind of thoughts. I am using Linux Ubuntu Studio right now and i'm still using Cinema 4D through emulation and learning Blender. And i'm working on an Asus A6V laptop. I can still make the job done. If you're in to the special FX business- then yeah,you'd need a more powerfull computer. But if you're doin' light works like simple animation or graphics or even music,you don't really need that much power. Atleast that's my opinion :]
