Babukishandas Baul, the son and grandson of important figures in the lineage of the mystic Bengal Baul tradition, performs Kirtan and Bhajan, Baul and Sufi songs .. The Bauls are mystical street singers, ecstatic entertainers who wander the Bengali conclave of Shantineketin, sleeping under trees and singing for their supper. The Bauls have their own philosophy, a mix of Hindu, Islam, Buddhist and Tantra. Like the Sufis, they represent a "unity" faith that tries to heal the divide that religion has created between neighbors. The Bauls of Bengal are mystical wandering minstrels, their deep poetry is a weave of Hindu, Sufi, Buddhist, Tantric, mysticism. He is a 9th generation Baul, a direct decendant & lineage of Nityananda Goswami Maha Prabhu, who was a Vaishanava Baul & brought the Maha Hare Krishna mantra to the world. Babu is the son of Purna Das Baul the first Indian Vocalist to travel abroad. Babu was raised by his Grandfather, Shri Nabani Das Khyappa Baul one of the greatest Baul Saints, a close associate of the Poet Rabindranath Tagore. From his birth he has spent his years doing Baul Sadhana, living, and being exposed to great Yogis, and Saints of India including, Anandamayi Ma, Sita Ram OmKarnath Das, Mother Theresa & many Bhrahamacharis & Swamijis, ect. He was a student of Vedanta Society in Kolkata for over 12 years in a strong, and deep sadhana. He has travelled world wide, temple to temple, country to country, singing spiritual devotional bhajans, kirtan, baul & sufi songs.
