From one-man band to highly eclectic rock trio - this is the evolution of The Actors.

The story begins in San Francisco in 2007, with singer/bassist/keyboardist Phil Maves self-releasing a two-song single as The Actors, and playing sporadic live shows as a one-man electro-rock band. Enter drummer/percussionist/laptop man Justin Ward. A native of Chicago, Justin moved to the Bay Area and worked at the same tech company as Phil. After several drum 'n' bass rock jams in early 2009, the duo linked up with guitarist/keyboardist/singer Dan Leech, originally bassist in art-poppers Better Than Aliens.

The trio began booking shows and studio time within a month of rehearsals, and their second show was at San Francisco's famed Bottom of the Hill - not bad for a new band. The trio quickly fleshed out some studio tracks recorded by Phil and co-produced by Mark Pistel (Consolidated, Hercules & Love Affair), which became the band's latest EP, "Anticipate Heat."

The Actors create a surprisingly diverse yet fluid sound, straight out of everything you've ever liked about music. Floating through the same universe as Daft Punk and DJ Shadow, Talking Heads and MGMT - hell, even Scott Walker and Blur - the music of The Actors is like hearing a band's greatest hits record, beamed backwards from the future.
