In 1987, Robert Diario produced and directed the first city wide talent show of students attending New York City's Alternative High Schools and Programs. The video was taken by Thomas Perry and Richard Spiegel of the Waterways Project of Ten Penny Players, which was arts partner to the superintendency of Alternative High Schools and Programs.

In 1986, The Forum of Writers for Young People selected the Jefferson Market Branch (Greenwich Village) of the New York Public Library as recipient of a collection of books by their members. Children's librarian, Elaine Thomas, and branch librarian, Marcia Purcell, accepted the gift. Barbara Fisher, co-director of Ten Penny Players and a Forum member, helped facilitate the gift and read a proclamation by Manhattan Borough President, David Dinkins.
