Blowback: The Complete First Season

Here we have every episode of Blowback (except for 1 & 2- watch those on DVD) cut into 10 minute slices. The compelling/aggravating "comedy" series is as important for being a record of chummery long past as anything else. It sometimes looks lousy, though a certain garbage beauty is intentionally reinforced. It is a project built on the love I have for the guys involved; that love is blinding. It may hinder the "quality" of the film in this simple sense: Long scenes of a pal acting badly (but with cheerful aplomb) may be unfunny to people who aren't that actor's pal. People on the outside should at least see this: A document of some retarded young men subverting expectations by spending time on positive play instead of moola making or bar drink doom. The message: have fun making stuff.
