Thanks for your response videos. Videos are coming through slowly but there are still long delays due to technical difficulties with uploading and viewing content on our channel. We're working with You Tube to resolve this issue as soon as possible and would like to thank everyone for continuing to take part in the energy debate.

The UK is facing a huge energy challenge. We need low carbon energy, it needs to be from reliable sources, and it needs to be affordable. E.ON believes that everyone should be involved and have the chance to ask questions, and be informed and consulted. That's what this Talking Energy channel is for.

As well as giving E.ON's viewpoint, we have asked three independent organisations to put forward their own opinions so you can hear all sides of the debate before letting us know your thoughts. We're really keen to hear what you have to say so please feel free to get involved by leaving a comment or posting your own video.

I do believe that we need as much debate as we can to ensure that people are aware of the challenges of "security of supply" coupled with Climate Change. Implementing Smart Meters won't change anything unless people understand precisely what they are, what they can be used for and why.

The truth has come out about the lies of global warming. They cheated on science they chenged the results to "prove" a connection between CO2 and global warming. see video

Has anyone on the channel used an energy monitor to see in action the consumption levels of appliances in their home / office? Interested to hear your thoughts on the experience.

@ baileygreenpi, thanks for your thoughts. You're absolutely right - we need a balanced energy mix but we also need to change the way we use and think about energy too. We've helped a number of people who simply didn't realise how much things cost in their homes - for example, just taking things of off standby and switching them off completely when not needed can make a big difference to energy consumption and people's pockets. So we're not talking about huge investment from the start - and in fact bigger changes such as installion of cavity wall insulation can attract subsidies and grants - but rather simple changes in the way people use their energy. There are lots of things which can be done and as well as reducing energy bills, these measures help to reduce our impact on the environment too so it really is a win-win.

At Adamb0000, thanks for your comment on this. We reduced our prices this year and we're always looking for ways to keep energy affordable as well as help people to understand and better manage their energy usage. We recently took our winter advice bureau into city centres, helping customers and non-customers get the best from their energy supplies and the best tariffs for them. We also encourage people to contact us directly and have lots of tips and advice on eonenergy.com. But as well as keeping energy affordable it's also about making sure it's reliable and lower carbon too and although that's a big challenge, it's something which we believe we must meet. Interested to hear your thoughts on this

Until new power sources, i.e. tidal streams and inventions such as Green Power Islands, are brought on line to supply the nations electricity, the answer must be a mix of nuclear and coal power with the promise of carbon recapture and gas used for CHP (Combined Heat & Power) Units more efficient and lower carbon. Why cant large public buildings such as hospitals, blocks of flats, schools etc. obtain their heating from CHP units? I also believe that the majority of the population dont care where electricity comes from as long as it is instant, constant and affordable, BUT WE MUST CARE. In an uncertain world we must work towards being self sufficient. Only green power will supply future generations with instant, constant, affordable energy as we all know that coal/gas/oil is disappearing fast.

e-on and british gas currently have the highest rates for both gas and electric in the uk, making their customers fuel bills the highest in the country. n-power, scottish power, southern electric and EDF are all more cost efficient than e-on
