Taking the Fall formed in early 2005 and have since performed extensively in the Dunedin music scene. They play a blend of alternative rock infused with metal influences. A combination of melodic hooks, intense guitars, a dynamic rhythm section and captivating vocal lines describes their sound. Their stage show incorporates both an aural and visual attack on the audience.

Taking the Fall have built up a solid fan base by playing with many talented local bands, as well as supporting numerous touring acts such as Blindspott, Cold By Winter, Streetwise Scarlet, Not Quite Right, and American punk heroes Strung Out. Taking the Fall also won 1st place in the Otago final of the Smokefree-Rockquest 2006.

They recently played at 'Re:Sound, 3 decades of Dunedin sound' alongside such acts as Mother Goose and The Chills, and were featured live to air on TV1's Close Up.
