This video shows the advantage of the Slim PSP's "UMD cache" feature, demonstrated with the game "Spectral Souls".

Notice how, while the first load of an attack takes almost the same time (with the Slim having a slight improvement in speed), the second time the game loads an attack animation, the Slim PSP loads much faster. (less info)
