Islamic Awareness Week 2011

Surrey Islamic Society hosted an amazing Islamic Awareness Week from Monday 28th February to Friday 4th March Islamic Awareness Week is a whole week packed full of lectures, exhibitions and the chance to explore and discover Islam free from any misconceptions, lies or distortions. The exhibition was held in the foyer of the Lecture Theatre block on a daily basis. There were many interactive activities and alot of interesting information about Islam. The schedule planned for the IAW lectures, showing the topics and the speakers who came is as follows: Monday: "The Purpose of Life" Speaker(s): Adam Deen Time: 6pm -- 8pm Venue: Griffiths Lecture Theatre, Lecture Theatre Block . Tuesday: "Islam & The Media" Speaker(s): Anas Altikriti & Lauren Booth Start Time: 6pm -- 8pm Venue: Griffiths Lecture Theatre, Lecture Theatre Block . Wednesday: "Women in Islam: Liberated or Oppressed?" Speaker(s): Myriam Francois-Cerrah Start Time: 6pm -- 8pm Venue: Griffiths Lecture Theatre, Lecture Theatre Block . Thursday: "Was Muhammad (PBUH) A True Prophet?" Speaker(s): Jalal Ibn Sa'eed Start Time: 6pm -- 8pm Venue: University Hall (Oak House) . Friday: "My Journey to Islam" Speaker(s): Yvonne Ridley & Yusha Evans Start Time: 6pm -- 8:30pm Venue: Griffiths Lecture Theatre, Lecture Theatre Block
