After a high speed pursuit traveling east on Anaheim through Long Beach, auto theft suspect pulls into McDonald's parking lot (3302 E Anaheim St, Long Beach, CA) on Anaheim Street & Newport Avenue near Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in Long Beach. As he attempts to flee, police officers shoot the suspect who brandishes a semi-automatic weapon. As suspect falls to the concrete and looses his gun, he attempts to pull out another object from his front pocket as Long Beach Police deliver the fatal shots. The suspect was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Chase began on 21st & Olive Avenue in the City of Long Beach but the chase crossed jurisdictions into Carson, Torrance, San Pedro (Los Angeles), and Wilmington (Los Angeles).

Were the recent shootings by Hispanic gang members in Los Angeles racially motivated?

Jamiel Shaw was murdered in Arlington Heights on March 2, 2008 by 18th Street gang members, and a 6 year old boy was shot as members of a Hispanic gang in the Harbor Gateway area open fired on a red SUV.

Some have suggested that these offenses qualify as hate crimes.
