straight 8 is a film event that invites anyone to make a film on a single cartridge of super 8mm film without editing or post production
if its great the first time you'll see it is at a packed straight 8 screening like our amazing cannes film festival event
for those of you that dont know, super 8 is a type of film that people used to use in the 1960s and 70s to make home movies
its still used in a lot of films today because of its unique and beautiful characteristics
each cartridge only lasts 3 minutes and 20 seconds, you cant rewind it, review it, or edit it until its been processed at a lab
its a great medium to work in and its the only format of real film that almost anyone can afford to shoot on
straight 8 is open to anyone, anywhere and our 2009 event is open now
