Scores and their meanings...

10 - Near Perfect: As close to perfection with the tech it is on as makes no odds, this is as good as its going to get on the hardware, in addition to this the game is evolutionally in its genre. A rare score, but doesn't indicate absolute perfection.

9 - Superb: One of the best games you could ask to play in its genre, great controls, beautiful to look at and totally engrossing; picking out any flaws in this game is effectively nitpicking: highly recommended.

8 - Great: A few minor issues that keep it from being superb that aren't minor enough to be considered simple nitpicks, but aside from minor problems the game is a lot of fun for the majority and certainly worthy of your consideration.

7 - Good: There's plenty of fun to be have here, though there are a few minor but annoying problems but nothing resolutely deal-breaking, might be worth a rent to make up ones mind fully and might be worth getting if you're a fan of the genre or the characters.

6 - Fair: Generally okay, especially if you're either a fan of the genre, or you dig for it; the question is would you be willing to do said digging?

5 - Mediocre: The game is playable, but that's about the nicest thing you could say about it. Technical - or likewise - issues pull a lot of the fun of the game right down that could have been solved with a bit more development time.

4 - Poor: The game has lots and lots of minor flaws which all conspire to drain the fun, it could be boring to play, or suffer from cheapness, and it also has one major issue which will continually wrestle with the player.

3 - Bad: Multiple, major issues with the controls and/or something else, like dodgy collision detection, causing cheap deaths aplenty and making the game feel like a complete chore; sub par presentation.

2 - Terrible: Major problems with the controls, cameras, the physics and other elements of the game; coupled this with horrifically bad graphics that are completely unjustifiable on the games platform.

1 - Abysmal: Controls, camera and the physics are practically non-existent; you will be fighting the game the whole way through more than its enemies. Presentation looks like it wandered in from three whole generations ago at best.

I would rather the person would take the context of the review, you know the actual words, etc, than just base it on the arbitrary number placed at the end of it.
