#CloserLookUSM: Our Reach Has No Limits

408 views 2 months ago
Sure, we're focused on Mississippi. But our vision extends well beyond its borders.

At The University of Southern Mississippi, we're intentional about improving the lives of Mississippians. Our students logged 91,000 hours of volunteer service in 2013, and our research is monitoring the effects of oil spills, better predicting hurricanes, and combating obesity, heart disease and many of our state's most pressing issues.

But we're not stopping there.

Whether it's venturing onto the Antarctic Ice or into the depths of space, we're committed to creating a culture of innovation for our students and faculty. In fact, one of our research projects developed at our Gulf Park campus in Long Beach was one of only two nationwide selected by NASA to be conducted on the International Space Station. There, we'll try to uncover if life can survive on Mars.
