nope...this year had some good releases that I really liked (Helplessness Blues, King of Limbs, Strange Mercy), and some that I loved (Within and Without, Bon Iver), but overall it isn't really as good as last year.

Wasn't blown away by Local Natives. They had a couple good songs, but the rest of the concert wasn't that engaging. The only show I have left early from (plus the T was about to stop running the green line for the night)

I would say it depends on how out-front the band puts the lyrics. I personally care more about the presentation, but if your band is all about message, then i suppose it would matter. If you have the Isaac Brock-approach to singing, your message is more important than if you have the Bethany Meye...

It is a great album, but after owning it for a bit over a year its not quite as dynamic as Boxer IMO. I like to think of it this way; there are some really awesome tracks on High Violet, but all of Boxer is just incredible.

High Violet earns an 8.5/10, but Boxer is one of maybe three or four alb...

the best way to support your favorite artists is to go out to a record store and buy the physical copy of the album. I appreciate the ease of buying something online, but it lacks a certain sense of ownership that is important to me. I'd rather slide a CD into the CD player in my car than plug in...

Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock has a horrible voice, but the words that come out of his mouth are genius. Plus the rest of the band is so talented and generally awesome that it totally makes up for his voice for me.
