You don't need to put the clutch in to start a car. You can start in gear ...this is how you drive a car with a blown clutch. But the car will take off as happened here.

Great video and great driving, I've been in one of these BMW's on Pukekohe and had my feet through the firewall waiting for the driver to brake at the end of the main straight!

Many cars can do that in the wet, but not many drivers have the balls or car control to drive like that!

Actually the driver did a good job to miss the other Capri. It looks like he had to back off and thus spin to avoid a collision. Awesome car!

The Mk1 Cortina is English, but this particular one was Australian assembled. Interestingly some of the later Cortina's had engines up to 4.1L... in Australia only!

Ultra cool car. When I was 17 my mother was looking for a car and with my assistance came home with a metallic green Capri with mags! The Capris were the bees knees. I was so proud to borrow it for dates, although it probably didn;t move my success rate from zero.
