Thank you so much baraccudas! I have an HP dv9540us that has problems when running 3d apps, webcam video, hdmi out, and media center (it crashes with striping on the screen. I will try your fix.

Macbook Pros with the Nvidia 8600M will also sizzle if you don't keep your macs cool. Newer Gen GPU's run cooler now, so hopefully these issues won't happen in new generations. Hopefully GPU manufacturers have learned from this ordeal.
