On Feb. 11, 2009, Lauryn Drainie, member of the Canadian Youth Delegation to the December 2008, UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Poznan, Poland, spoke at the Toronto Climate Campaign's, "Poznan Post Mortem/Copenhagen Countdown" report back, about the conception of "Project Survival", and the hundreds-strong youth protest that was initiated on the final day of the conference.
Project survival was inspired by a representative from the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), who stated that the current global emissions targets set by powerful countries will condemn their nations to extinction. It's unifying principle: to safeguard the survival of all peoples and nations.
