@FrankCastle yup, you sure can! you will def need to reformat it when you reinstall windows xp or vista. 40gb should be enough to do a general install; however your gonna be pretty limited to how many apps and data you can store on it since an xp install usually takes up about 2-4gb w/o any other programs or data. i have a 64gb ssd in my macbook air and have made it work pretty good (i just keep movies and larger data on an external hdd or stream it from my main desktop or hp laptop.

can i use my ps3 hdd in my laptop? was thinking of just doing a swap, please someone let me know if this can be done. I THINK ITS THE SAME SIZE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I PUT THE PS3 HARD DRIVE IN MY LAPTOP WILL IT STILL WORK LIKE WINDOWS IF I PUT THE 40 GB PS3 IN MY LAPTOP. WILL 40 GB BE GOOD FOR A LAPTOP LOL

to backup your ps3 hdd, you need to have an external harddrive FORMATTED IN FAT32, NOT NTFS. this is key!!! you will need an app to do this, since xp does let you format hdds over 20gb in FAT32. peace out !
