Spent an hour and a half in the air with my CFI working on all sorts of maneuvers and skills. Stalls, slow flight, steep turns, short/soft field takeoffs and landings, go arounds, pilotage, you name it. A good afternoon spent brushing up on my skills along with some new things thrown in for good measure.
Then we had way too much fun practicing some spins and wingovers as well. Both were of the non-aerobatic variety, so that's why they are permissible maneuvers per FARs 91.303 and 91.307. Spin training is required for the CFI rating and that's something I hope to achieve in the future, and the wingovers were really just a demonstration of the effect of engine torque in a power-on stall configuration.
I just don't think you can have more fun for the dollar in flying than in the Cub. It's vintage aviation, pure and simple.

Just a short video from an evening flight in the venerable J-3 on a beautiful summer day. I spent most of the flight practicing takeoffs and landings on the grass but made one detour out a few miles to take in the scenery low and slow. There's nothing better than a Cub down low with the door hanging wide open.

I made two flights up to Grimes Field in Urbana, OH for the Mid-East Regional Fly-In (MERFI) on September, 12, 2009.
The first trip I took my friend Mike up and we landed at Bellefontaine first so I could log the trip as cross-country time. For that arrival, there was tons of traffic in the pattern at Urbana and it made for a very hectic, but safe, flight once we neared the airport. We spent a few hours on the ground, attended a seminar, and walked around admiring all the aircraft parked outside on a beautiful sunny day.
Later in the afternoon, I flew back up with my girlfriend for dinner. There was a guest speaker, David Scheff, who used to manage the maintenance of the VC-25s for the USAF - known to most of us as Air Force One. He told some great stories and we enjoyed our meal up there. Once he was finished, we made the short flight back to Waynesville and landed right at sunset.

Taking my dad up for the first time since I got my Pilot's Certificate last year on an overcast summer afternoon. We departed the home drome (40I) and flew around the area, landing at Wright Brothers Airport (MGY) along the way. It was quite cool for August - only about 65 degrees - so the plane performed quite well for a Cessna 150 with two adults on board. Winds were out of the North-Northwest all afternoon so there was a slight crosswind at both airports. On return to Stewart I made a short field approach and landing.

Day trip in a Cessna 150 from the Detroit area to Put In Bay, OH and back home to Waynesville, OH. We departed from Oakland Southwest Airport and followed the Lake Erie shoreline before crossing over North of Port Clinton to land at Put In Bay.
I landed at Port Clinton (PCW) to get fuel but they were closed, so we ended up landing at Seneca Co. Airport in Tiffin to fill the tanks. Then it was a straight shot back to Red Stewart Airfield down near Dayton. It was a great trip and a lot of fun to be able to land on the island!
