The Scientific Visualization Lab is a cross-platform computing space dedicated to research and teaching with a focus on the natural sciences. It was designed to be both a classroom for sessions requiring the use of high-end software tools, and a place where Vassar faculty and students can work on collaborative research projects.

The lab opened in the summer of 2000 and it is located in the third floor of Mudd Hall, home of Chemistry Department. It was funded by grants from the Mellon Foundation, the Arthur Vining foundation and a donation from an anonymous Vassar College alumna.

It is equipped with high-end IBM workstations running Windows XP and Red Hat Linux64, as well as state of the art audiovisual hardware, including a 42" video display. Users have access to various scientific software tools for numerical analysis, scientific visualization, molecular modeling, and 3D animation like Mathematica, MATLAB, Discovery Studio, Materials Studio, Gaussian, Maya and many others.

Hi Cristian,
Your videos are great. I'm an undergraduate taking my first forensic science class.....totally lost in class.....but now....after watching your videos I can understand.
Thank you so much.
P.S: Would you know if there is any type of program that I can use to design a lab?

I just want to thank you for the organic chemistry lab example videos posted here. I'm a very visual person, and being able to see the basic concept and setup of an experiment before I'm figuring it out the hard way on lab day has been immeasurably helpful to me and my understanding of organic lab.
