Announcing NAMM's "Say You Wanna Play" — the music contest for the rest of us.

This isn't about glorifying idols or battling with other bands to be the best.

NAMM believes that ALL people should experience the proven benefits of playing music. No matter what Simon says.

Playing music is scientifically proven to:

Plus, it's lots of fun — at any age.

And NAMM thinks everyone deserves that.

People may have told you that you're not musical — But it's time to prove them wrong. Enter our contest and we'll show you how musical you really can be. Upload a short video of you playing or singing an original song to our group page. Then tell America why you love playing music or why you want to start. Tell us your story, share your musical dreams, and then we'll help them come true.

To submit a video, click on the "Groups" tab at the top of this page. Next, click on the "Say You Wanna Play Contest" link. Then, if you haven't already, join our group and click on the "Add Videos" link to send us your submission.

Of course, we'd ask you to carefully review the rules for submission on the page, wannaplaymusic.com/sayyourules . That will make submitting your entry much easier for you and for us to review it.

The best entry, based on originality, creativity and fit with the Say You Wanna Play theme will win a chance to receive a free music lesson from Scott Houston, as well as a chance to play at the NAMM Show in 2009.
