Raise the damn interest rates already. This is ridiculous. Don't follow the FED's dumb ass.

I really like the website and marketing of ING Direct, but I have not opened an account and will not open one until ING raises it's interest rates to a more competitive level. Right now I have an FNBO Direct account that is 2.40% and a GMAC account that is 2.75%, and ING is currently at 1.65%. What's the problem guys? Your company pretty much put the online savings industry on the map and you've now fallen behind your competitors severely. Get back to a competitive level and you will earn my business.

Electric Orange is great. ING Direct approved me for a $7000 overdraft line of credit so I won't have to worry about untimely bounced checks or NSF fees ever again (caveat: I do have to pay a couple days of interest whenever I do use it. That is fair.). Another nice feature is you can pay directly into your friend's bank accounts, which is very convenient in roommate arrangements.

The reason I opened the account was a decent interest rate of 3.00% and you dropped it a month later to 2.4 something. I think I can do better at Capital One.

Please stop lowering interest rates. We are at 2.5% now. What the hell.

I live in Laredo, TX (Number 1 border with Mexico for import/export international trades in the US...do your research!!!) and work for one of the national banks. I know for a fact that there are many potential (wealthy) prospects that would love to be ING customers (HIGH APY is the reason) but they don't know about it. A cafe in this area (Laredo, TX or San Antonio, TX will be great for customers or for new jobs). The way the economy is right now drives customers to pull their investments from their banks and look for other financial institutions that will pay them a little more. They don't even want to hear about any non-FDIC products. I think it is the right time for ING to promote more its products and start planning about being physically in more states and cities in offices or cafes and have sales representatives making presentations to be more competitive. This will definitelly provide awareness and value to those customers interested in getting higher APYs.
