The worst illness and the only cure:

A joy so right and still so wrong
Is the fruit that is forbidden.
How sweetly speaks the one
Who introduced us to this joy!
How compelling his words are!
And his command is really a sweet request.
All that we want he says we can do.

Set loose we run in every direction
To slake an endless thirst
And to appease a heartless hunger.
And every time we fulfil a need another arises,
So endlessly we fulfil our needs.
We fulfil, fulfil, fulfil, yet have no fulfilment.
We wriggle, we shudder, we scream,
We clench, we bite, we spill our copious juices.
Our disarrayed beds testify to our passion.
Yet they have no knowledge of lasting fulfillment.

In despair we bite deep into the forbidden fruit,
Though it will not relent and fulfil our bottomless need.
In agony we dream of that which fulfils forever.
And remember the time when there was peace,
When hunger was filled and thirst slaked.
A time when we were young and untouched
By the argument of the charming wanderer,
When we abided by the stern instruction
Of our mighty and misunderstood Father.

Our Father was so strong, so bright, and so right,
He was all fire and all light.
But we were weak, being made of base material
And could not be worthy of His parenthood.
We erred and strayed from His path,
We disobeyed our Father's command
And believed in His enemy's promise.
So we ate the forbidden fruit and still eat it,
For that is the just reward for our shame.

And we shall continue to eat endlessly that fruit
Until our Father summons us to His presence.
And He shall summon, not all, but some,
And we shall go to Him, not all, but some.
And He shall put an end to this endless need,
For only He can make the endless end.
So let those who feel the pain
Of this endless hell pray for forgiveness,
For redemption and for endless rest.
Our Father shall return to His children,
