Discolupe: Feels Good (Phunk Investigation Remix) rob251150 - 111 views - 1 week ago
Discolupe are Luc Poublon ('Gerontion') and Peter Knipmeijer from the Netherlands, who started DJing together a looong time ago :-). Both are well known producers and remixers, as a team they have also released tracks under the aliases LPK and Initials. They run their own radioshow Klubsounds, broadcasted in various countries and by several internet radiostations.

Phunk Investigation are Italian legends Dino Maggiorana and Stefano Silvestri, who have done remixes for the likes of Depeche Mode, George Michael, Sophie Ellis Baxter, Simply Red, Phats & Small and countless more.

'Feels Good' will soon be released on the Oven Ready label in the UK - stay tuned for more information.

The video is about - well, bending and stretching...

Sunny Day Inc.: Bewitched Summer (Part One) rob251150 - 135 views - 3 weeks ago
Sunny Day Inc. are a duo from northern Germany, consisting of - well, just a guy and a gal. They combine rhythmic and melodic influences from the 70's (they love the albums by The Glitter Band without Gary) and early 80's (they love Heaven 17 even more than The Glitter Band) with elements borrowed from Trance and House. A MySpace site and more tracks will be available soon.

I like 125 bpm not only because of the chance to cut the video very exactly at 25 fps; it's also a tempo that still has drive, but with a certain 'laziness'. Hope this one will make you dance - and don't take my MySpace site too serious ;-)...

A simple (?) 1-chord-house-tune with a slightly 'jazzy' feeling - sounds a bit rough, but that's the way I like it :-)...

Bailey: A Day On the Beach (Original Mix) rob251150 - 301 views - 1 month ago
Darren 'Daz' Bailey from Nantwich (south Cheshire) is well known for his melodic Trance tunes ('Shimmer', 'Inspiral', 'Stylistic') and a bagful of remixes. He's also co-founder (with Scott Rosser aka Rossko, Cahill, Beatplayers) of the new dance label DigiTraxx. 'A Day On the Beach', a pretty atmospheric and touching tune, will be released in early summer - I'll add some information to this description as soon as it's available.

The video is about - well, of course days on the beach. But it's definitely not concentrating on the lazy ones from ca. 3:35 on...

Bailey vs. Hand's Burn: Good Shot 09 rob251150 - 180 views - 1 month ago
This is neither a cover nor a remix of the 1999 classic by Hand's Burn (Mauro Crisci & Marino Stephano from Belgium) - Bailey just took the vox and created his own vision of 'Good Shot' around them.

'Good Shot', unreleased to date and mixed only a couple of days ago, doesn't sound typically 'Bailey-esque', but offers an interesting new (a bit darker & harder) colour.

The vid: Well, it's again a 'loop-di-loop' video :-) ...

Roxy Rawson: Riddle It rob251150 - 228 views - 1 month ago
Roxy Rawson from London has studied piano and violin at a Paris conservatoire and is a self-trained singer. Her performance could be compared with - well, probably nothing I've ever seen and heard before. Same with her songs, comprising elements from jazz, pop and maybe a 'punky' attitude.

'Riddle it' comes from the 'Changing Things'-EP, released on Ambiguous Records in April 2009.

I'm used to cut close to the bassdrum, so I had some difficulties with this video - the song has no bassdrum at all...

The Mitchell Project: Welcome To the Dance Part 3 (Bailey's Radio Edit) rob251150 - 125 views - 2 months ago
Ten years after the release of 'Part 1', legendary dj and producer Des Mitchell has teamed up with Christian Davies and created a stunning new version. Out now on DigiTraxx with several remixes from Bailey, Barrington Lawrence, Dan Rouge, John Dee and Matt Oakey.

This is 'Bailey's Radio Edit', a real power-remix bei Daz Bailey from Nantwich. It's a bit straighter than the original and comes along with a good portion of the typical 'Bailey grand piano' :-) ...

James Talk: Yucca (King Unique Remix 2009) rob251150 - 1,219 views - 5 months ago
The Original Mix of James Talk's 'Yucca' has been released in June 2008, two remixes by King Unique and Timmy Stewart followed on January 12th (all on Spoken Recordings and available on beatport.com).

James Talk is a producer, remixer and dj from Southampton, Spoken Recordings is, as far as I know, his own label. King Unique is - well, very (-: unique. Especially since October 2008, when Matthew Roberts left the duo, so it's now Matt Thomas' solo project. Won't make that much of a difference - he did most of the production stuff on his own yet when they were djing as a duo. He's one of my favourite producers and the guy who's responsible for the beautiful 'Yohkoh'.

The video ist sort of minimalistic, consisting of just three loops from an animated cartoon plus two short takes from a film jukebox soundie.

If you get a lousy (mono-)sound due to low bandwidth and can't see the "Watch in high quality"-link: add

to the end of the path on top of your browser, hit "Enter", wait for the reload, then push the pause-button and have some patience until the vid has made it as a temporary file to your HDD. Or memory. Or whatsoever...

Luc Poublon: Gerontion (Orpheus Remix) rob251150 - 1,438 views - 6 months ago
http://www.myspace.com/lucpoub lon

Luc Poublon is a producer and studio owner from Vlaardingen (Netherlands). I heard his name for the very first time not so long ago when Neil Moore ('Club Culture'/BFBS) played 'Gerontion (Orpheus Remix)', and I was stunned! Er... no, not by his name, but by his fascinating track: A bit dark, a bit mystic, supported by a beat that drives you crazy - one of the best things I heard in ages. And Neil received a LOAD of calls and mails regarding this title.

An extended mix, done by Luc, has been released on a compilation lately and is available on several download sites, but it gets even better: The 'Gerontion'-EP will follow in February, with a whole bunch of remixes and at least two radio edits!

Download from 16th February on:

This is the 'Orpheus Remix' with its amazing bass, No. 3 in a small series of 'Gerontion' videos. Please have a look at 'Luc's Radio Edit' and the 'Michael de Kooker Remix' (introducing the evil (-: Marten van der Fleeten), too...

Bailey: Stylistic (Radio Edit) rob251150 - 255 views - 6 months ago
Darren 'Daz' Bailey from Nantwich (south Cheshire) is djing since 1995 and started producing and remixing in 2007. What a shame - looks like we've missed a bunch of good tracks over the years, only because this guy didn't shake his leg a bit earlier!

'Stylistic' was released in February 2009 on Bailey's EP-1 with 'Shimmer' on DigiTraxx.

30/06/2009: My dog (...the one above) passed away this morning at 8 o'clock after suffering from cancer for quite a while, only a couple of weeks after her 12th birthday. Heli was the kindest creature I ever met, loving nearly everyone with the exception of cats :-). I miss her so much...

Recommended: Bailey's 'A Day On the Beach'. Amongst my favo(u)rites: Thyrd Eye plus the wonderful 'The More That I Do' by The Field as well as the Foals Remix of this track. Pilots, a couple of only 18 years old guys from London, playing some weird and a bit dark stuff. Holy State, an excellent four piece from Leeds. And of course 'Tigershark' by Swimming, a track from 2008, now re-released on their debut-album 'The Fireflow Trade' (11/05/2009): One of the most beautiful melodic pop songs I ever listened to!
