The website also has transcripts up for many early to mid 1971 Nixon recordings (and a very small handful from other times). The vast, vast majority of presidential tapes, however, have no transcripts online (although some transcripts have been released as books). A large percentage of the tapes are presented on the Miller Center site as lengthy block recordings comprising approximately two hours each of multiple conversations. Most of the recordings are Nixon's and Johnson's.

The Nixon Library's website has recordings dealing with the 1972 election. I found additional recordings from various online sources and from C-SPAN radio.

The Nixon Tapes were seized after President Nixon left office. Since that time they have been under the control of the National Archives (NARA). NARA archivists edited the tapes and returned to the Nixon family anything they marked "personal returnable." They also cut out anything that fell under "national security," as well as some political information. Recently, however, the Archives has agreed to hand the tapes over to the Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, CA. The physical transfer of the tapes is ongoing. For the future, all the released Nixon tapes (around 3,000 hours at this point) should be accessible at the Nixon Library.
