I just started playing the bouzouki near the end of summer 2006 and have taught myself (meaning I have no teacher). I learn songs by ear or by 3 music books that I purchased from greece. My goal is to be able to play effortlessly and be able to eventually come up with good Taximi's that I can share with everyone. But for now, its all about learning the basics.

UPDATE!!!!

I've taken some of your advice to heart and went and found a teacher, and with both his and your advice, I have started practicing with a metronome. Along with this we are working on my picking styles which I hope will better allow me to accentuate the music I play as well as increase in speed. I will continue to post my progress and hopefully you will be able to see if I am indeed progressing.

Of course it will take time as learning the right way is always harder than learning the wrong way, so please be patient, I will again post new videos in the near future.

Just wanted to thank everyone for watching and offering advice and tips to this beginner who started solely because of the love of Greek music. Also, thank you to my new teacher for taking the time and having the patience to teach, you know who you are.
