Traditional North-African melodies and rythms spiced up with pop and funk are the ingredients for Raï&Rif's swinging music. For North-Africans it's a feast of recognition, for others it's an unique and swinging journey through a landscape of 1001 Nights.

A steady ritmical basis on drums and bass, spirited percussion, swinging guitarrifs and inspiring melodies on keys makes Raï&Rif tight and swinging altogether. The emotional, but powerful vocals from Hafid Karrouch and Mustafa Ammari gives Raï&Rif their unique sound.
About Me:

In 2005 Morrocan musicians from the Netherlands gathered to play their rootsmusic. They invited the dutch musicians Richard and Fred on drums and bass to form a new band. Raï&Rif has become a favourite guest at the Morrocan community in Venlo and is ready to get everyone dancing in the club- en festivalcircuit, whatever the audiences origin might be. In 2005 Raï&Rif performed at Festival Mundial in Venlo and in 2006 they performed at JH Lido in Belgium and at the Ouverture in Venlo. This year Raï&Rif performed at Dynamo in Eindhoven and has a tour planned with DJ Nadia to Eindhoven and Utrecht.

Groetjes Peter Smoor
