There are so many versions, mine is adapted from the Clarence Ashley version, but played clawhammer style - I do this on the my latest CD project.

I first heard John Hurt do this and since then many others, I've tried to do something of my own on it. It's also a track from a Cd I've just finished called The Dream Left Behind. With the help of a friend I've recorded two CD's - thirteen tracks each with about half covers and half original songs.
