The Bernedoodle was the result of mixing a Standard Poodle with a Bernese Mountain Dog. A vet assistant was actually surprised at this particular mix because they were so incredibly calm. She said every other Doodle type dog is so hyper they won't stay on the exam table. The Stud Standard Poodle was hyper and persistent barker, the Dam Bernese Mountain Dog was calm & non barker. All in the litter took after Mom. Perhaps it was luck of the draw but these were the sweetest, most calm dogs I ever did see. If they barked I said quiet & they did so, very obedient as well. I don't sell these anymore. This was an experiment. In order to get the white paws & white snout I needed to use a Standard Parti Poodle. I may venture back into this breed in the far future.
I had one person extremely upset for me mixing the two because I guess she thought every pure bred on earth today was put here by God or nature, wrong ! The Bernese Mountain Dog is a mix of various breeds and nobody really knows what is in the mix which would classify the Bernese Mountain Dog as a mutt, but a few people began to breed the dog to have certain characteristics. Out of all this out crossing came 4 different types of Mountain Dogs. To make things worse there are different standards of the breed within different countries, the breeders bicker amongst each other at the shows, they even form groups of really bitchy pompous women that even though a new comer enters the shows & wins they attack those people in any way they can.
I have been on the receiving end of such attacks via AKC Breeders & more specifically a particular woman who works within the Berner Garde information databse where she has ALL of the personal information of everybody who registers their dogs with AKC, I mean she has home addresses, phone numbers, dogs registered, how many puppies bred, websites etc then she uses that info sharing it with her other friends in crime will use animal control to harass, find & contact puppy customers then try to sell her puppies to them. There is actually a dirty filthy underworld in both the dog show and cat show business, at first I thought it was only AKC and only just in America but I have spoken to veterinarians as well as dog & cat show breeders all over the world and it is the same everywhere. These people may not represent the whole but the judges are crooked, catering to people that befriend them. If you dig deep enough then you will see the same slimy elements that lurk with in Government also lurk within all of these dog & cat organizations, after all, the entire dog & cat shows were started up by the rich elite so much of the element in the shows are the rich wives of the crooked federal judges and politicians, it only makes sense that the same filth would be within these organizations.
Really, I tell the truth, this may be too overwhelming for the innocent, maybe you don't want to know about these things so denial is the first reaction but it is what I have seen first hand and confirmed by almost everybody who has been in the crossfire. It's a dog eat dog business. Anyhow, one day, you just watch, the Bernedoodle will become a recognized breed but hopefully will lose the silly name.
