About Me:

Marilyn Peake is the author of both adult and children's literature. Her short stories have appeared in a number of anthologies published by Double Dragon Publishing: "Twisted Tails: An Anthology to Surprise and Delight", "Twisted Tails II-Volume 1: Time on our Hands", "Twisted Tails II-Volume 2: Out of Time", "Twisted Tails II-The Complete Edition", "Twisted Tails III: Pure Fear", and "Illuminated Manuscripts". "Coyote Crossing" and "Cannon Fodder: Operation Horse Whisperer", Marilyn's short stories published by DDP with their own book covers, are listed among the "Fictionwise Recommendations" at Fictionwise.com. Marilyn has also had a short travel piece about Cancun, Mexico published as part of a montage titled "America, America: Snapshots from a Continent" in Eclectica Magazine.

Marilyn's trilogy of children's fantasy adventure novels - "The Fisherman's Son", "The City of the Golden Sun", and "Return of the Golden Age" - have received glowing reviews. "The Fisherman's Son" Audio Book - produced by a professional audio production company, read by the voice actor, Andrew Dollar - was named a Finalist in the 2006 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards.

"Twisted Tails: An Anthology to Surprise and Delight" is a Winner of the 2006 Dream Realm Awards. "Twisted Tails II-Volume 1: Time on our Hands" is a Finalist in two categories of the 2007 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards: "Anthologies" and "Science Fiction". "Twisted Tails II-Volume 2: Out of Time" is a Winner of the 2008 EPPIE Awards, and both volumes of "Twisted Tails II" were named Finalists in that contest. "Twisted Tails: An Anthology to Surprise and Delight" and "Coyote Crossing" were voted TOP TEN Finishers in the 2006 Preditors and Editors Readers Poll. Marilyn's article, "Tips for Writers: How Did Twisted Tails Become a Best-seller within Days of Publication?", was voted a TOP TEN Finisher in the "Nonfiction Articles" Category of the 2006 Preditors and Editors Readers Poll.

Marilyn is the Editor of the book, "From Hollywood Experts and Published Authors: Words of Wisdom for Starving Artists" - a collection of articles from her newsletter, The Golden Goblet. This book is a SILVER AWARD WINNER in the 2007 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards. The Midwest Book Review includes this book on its Writer's Bookshelf and states in their review: "Useful, practical, and an easy read, 'From Hollywood Experts And Published Authors' is strongly recommended for anyone aspiring to a career as a professional writer regardless of genre or media." The Golden Goblet newsletter was voted a TOP TEN Finisher in the "Non-fiction Publication" category of the 2007 Preditors and Editors Readers Poll.

Marilyn is also the Editor of a recently published book, based on the second year of articles in her newsletter, plus additional articles by the same authors: "Inside Scoop: Articles about Acting and Writing by Hollywood Insiders and Published Authors".

Marilyn's article, "Archetypes in Fantasy Writing", was voted a TOP TEN Finisher in the "Non-fiction Article" category of the 2007 Preditors and Editors Readers Poll.

Marilyn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology. Sounds like you've had a great time in Hollywood! I've been working with some people in Hollywood who wrote articles for my newsletter. The first year of articles was recently published as a book entitled "From Hollywood Experts and Published Authors: Words of Wisdom for Starving Artists". If you see this post, what types of jobs did you have in Hollywood?
mybookclub (2 years ago)
Congrats on all the success of your writing and it looks like you have some great stuff coming up. My book is titled 31 Jobs Later. I moved from CO to Hollywood to be an actor like so many people do and the book is my journey to be an actor and in the 5 years I've been in Hollywood I've had 31 different jobs. I talk about my jobs and the people I've met and the experiences I've learned and in the end depending on your definition of actor, I acted my way through a lot of jobs. Have a great day.
