This video shows an advanced driver assistance system developed by researchers of Prof. Hedrick's Vehicle Dynamics Lab (Dr. Kang Li) and California PATH, UC-Berkeley in the Vehicle Infrastructure Integration (VII) project. This system integrates GPS, digital map, (low cost) on-board sensors, and wireless communication to perform a variety of driver assistance functions, such as in-vehicle signage, speed warning, curve overspeed warning, lane-departure warning, and wrong-way warning.

The features of the system include (1) access to real-time roadway information and map update via vehicle-infrastructure wireless communication, (2) robust high-accuracy vehicle positioning through sensor fusion of GPS, DR sensors, and digital map data, and (3) multiple warning means, such as audio, visual, and speech warnings, through selected driver machine interfaces (e.g.: a dashboard device or a bluetooth enabled cellphone).
