An behind-the-scenes look at the work that goes into producing a journal update on Kiva loans. This particular clip is the first of two that document a day in the life of Josh Bull, Kiva Fellow to the Tarma and Huancayo branches of Microfinanzas PRISMA, a Kiva Field Partner in Peru.
Be sure you watch the second half of the clip too. YouTube wouldn't let me upload a clip over 10 minutes, so I split the video in two.

From such a humble family, Mrs. Flora is a great businesswoman. Six months ago, at 54 years old, she began selling disposables. She began it in her home environment where she also used to sell bookstore items. She lives with her husband and her five children, three of which produce and sell backpacks (her previous job that she left to her kids) while the other two (15 and 9 years old) are in school. Her husband also works as a locksmith but it does not bring in enough income and their standard of living is precarious. But Mrs. Flora perseveres: she dreams about completing her home environment and to be able to be able to run the bookstore by itself, not together with the disposables as it is now which would increase their income which is essential for improving the standard of living of her and her family.

Being 55 years old, owning her store for 8 of them, the work that Mrs. Denia does is admirable from all points of view. Because she has had to manage in order to give her children the best that she could according to her possibilities, she has been developing in a number of activities: selling kebab, laundry services in the homes, etc., in other words, anything she needs to do to raise her 4 children ( even though 2 of them are already grown, 29 and 24 years old, and the other two are 18 and 14 years old, for whom she pays their education) In spite of her tremendous efforts during 25 years of being a mother, she still cannot complete the construction of her small home, this being a detriment to the quality of life of her family and the productivity of the businesses that she runs from and in her home. She yearns to finish her house such as it is. With the desire to obtain the necessary supplies to be able to face the upcoming Christmas season, Mrs. Denia received a loan of $100 USD, which will provide the capital for merchandise and will increase her level of income.
