Star Wars action figures are growing up with their audience. After 35 years of fantastic plastic standing tall in pop culture at 3¾ inches, Hasbro has released the Star Wars Black Series in a new set of 6-inch figures that will feature more articulation and an increased attention to detail.
Priced at $19.99 USD each, and with eight six inch figures in 2013 (plus one exclusive) Hasbro are drawing on core characters from the original Star Wars trilogy of films while also bringing in key players from the prequels.

The first wave of four, includes Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing Fighter flight suit, fan-favorite droid R2-D2, bad guy Darth Maul and an Imperial Sandtrooper.

"We consider them the best figures that Hasbro's ever produced for Star Wars that meets the sensibilities of romancing the character as well as the playability and poseability that fans really appreciate," says Derryl DePriest, Hasbro vice president of boys marketing.

Hasbro has had success with the scale before with the 6-inch Marvel Legends figures based on Marvel Comics heroes and villains. In terms of Star Wars, though, the Black Series will act as a transitional point between the 3¾-inch toys — "which is rooted in the childhood memories of generations of now-grown kids," DePriest says — and the 12-inch Sideshow Collectibles figures for adult collectors.

The current "vintage"-style line of 3¾ figures will go on hiatus with the same style of figures also continuing under the Black Series 3¾ inches banner.

Here at +FLYGUY we'll be buying them all and reviewing them here!

STAR WARS LEGO 2014 REVIEWS BY FLYGUY Play

BUY STAR WARS LEGO NOW: http://bit.ly/LEGO2014

Lego Star Wars is a Lego theme that incorporates the Star Wars saga. The first Lego Star Wars, released in 1999, included model 7140, the first Lego X-Wing. Star Wars was the 23rd intellectual property to be licensed in Lego Group history. The first few sets based on the original trilogy were released in 1999, coinciding with the release of The Phantom Menace. Sets based on the prequel trilogy (Episodes I to III) of Star Wars would follow, starting with Episode I. As each new film in the prequel trilogy neared its release date, Lego issued new models of ships and scenes in those films, as well as additional sets from the original trilogy. Lego also produced models based on The Clone Wars, which was released early in 2008.
Originally it was only licensed from 1999--2008, but the Lego Group extended the license with Lucasfilm Ltd. multiple times: First to 2011 and then again until 2016. In 2012 another 10 year agreement was signed between the two companies. The brand has spawned numerous video game releases, developed by Traveller's Tales — Lego Star Wars: The Video Game (2005), Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (2006), Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (2007) and Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars in 2011 and more will follow.

Take a look at FLYGUY reviews of sets from all of 2014.
