About Me:

This 2-day workshop is designed to surface the power issues in organisations that affect leadership at the top, middle and bottom of the organisation. The programme adapts the acclaimed work of the American Systems expert and practitioner Barry Oshry, it explores partnerships and collaborations within organisations. In a world of increasing complexity, with the public sector grappling with a policy agenda that feel conflictual, leaders in public sector organisations need the skill set to exercise responsible power within their work setting.

In almost every organisation there are common patterns of behaviour that limit the organisation's effectiveness. These include misunderstandings, misdirected energy, destructive conflict, stress, frustration, demoralisation and customer dissatisfaction. Usually people assume this outcome is unique to their situation and tend to blame it on the personal characteristics of thee people involved. The solutions tend to be fix (develop), fire or rotate the people. And yet the problems never go away.

This workshop is designed to illustrate that the vast majority of these issues are symptomatic, not personal. This workshop will equip participants with models and practices to help them master the systemic conditions they are in, whatever level in the organisation they are.

The workshop accommodates 20 -- 50 people from a range of levels in the organisation. It is usually used as part of your own organisations culture-change and leadership development interventions.

The Centre for Innovation in Health Management runs this workshop in license form.
